Startups, learning, life and happiness by Paul Brown

I am very grateful for a lot of things in my life, but I am also very grateful for the very simplest of things.

Recently I have been advising someone who is going through a difficult time who is very close to me to be grateful for every small thing in their life.

When life really tests you it can be difficult to focus on a positive and to be grateful for anything. I have been reminding my friend to be grateful even for the bad things because ultimately they will make them stronger. You have to be grateful for the challenge, grateful that you will become stronger as a result of this test and grateful you WILL make it through.

I strongly believe that if you are grateful for everything in life it is difficult to be afraid of anything and you have the overwhelming feeling every-day that anything is possible and failure really does not matter. Even in a difficult situation you must fight to stay positive and remember just how lucky you are for the smallest of things.

Gratitude can give you hope in every situation and installs a positive attitude in everything you do, been grateful for the smallest of things in life can put everything in to perspective very quickly and make you feel great.

Ultimately life is just a ride, with twists and turns and ups and downs but it is important to remember, (in the words of Bill Hicks) it is ‘just a ride’ so lets enjoy it, not take it too seriously, and remember to be thankful of the highs and the lows.
